Favorite yoga pose

Seems like everyone is doing yoga these days - in their living rooms, in their bedrooms, in their backyards. All with the help of Zoom or a pre-recorded class. We love the classes at corepoweryoga.com/keep-up-your-practice. It's great how they give you a sweat level and indicate if you'll need props before you start. But, we miss being in a class with others.

We miss the soothing voice of a yoga instructor as she encourages us to establish an intention (never quite know what to do with that, so fake it ‘til you make it) and her peaceful presence as she walks around the room checking everyone's form (yes, we really do need a block to do that!). We miss the deep inhale and long, loud exhale we all do together. Somehow it's not the same in the living room where it's easy to get distracted by dust bunnies under the couch.

Even without the live class, whenever we do our favorite pose, we feel happier. Which pose? You might guess it's Mountain pose because Colorado Daisy is in the mountains, but no. You might guess Crow (wish we could manage that one, but not even close) or maybe Warrior II because Colorado Daisy was started by a kick-ass woman? Nope. Our favorite yoga pose is, don't laugh, Shavasana. Yup, the one where you get to lie there like you're dead.

Shavasana comes at the end of a challenging class when you thank your body for working so hard (maybe next time Crow!), you left everything on the mat, you can be at peace. It's like you're floating in an ocean of gentle, happy waves. Too much? Okay, maybe not happy waves, but Shavasana sure feels great. The world would be a happier place if everyone did something challenging that ended with Shavasana every day. Which yoga pose is your favorite?
